It is interesting how all the hype and rhetoric about "thinking green" seems to have suddenly died down since the cost of gas has likewise, suddenly plummeted in the past few weeks. Well, anyway, after the mortgage meltdown and then financial tsunami on Wall St., it is easy to breathe a sigh of relief that at least the cost gas and oil has gone down.
We shouldn’t forget, in our joy over the decrease in gas prices, that the "green" part of the thinking is not about what we pay for the fuel but much more about what burning that fuel to make our electricity, heat our homes and run our cars does to our environment, our air, our water, our food supply, the polar ice caps...upon which our local weather is very dependent.
And, more importantly, it would be much to our benefit to think green in regard to something else: our health.
How do we think green in regard to our health?
Just as our choice of fuels needs to be more natural, more efficient, less polluting and less damaging to the environment... What would happen if there was a way to look at health care in a way that was more natural, more logical, sensible and efficient in it’s approach - a way that was less polluting and damaging to our body’s "internal environment"?
There is one branch of health care that is considerably further along in becoming Green than our fuel and energy situation is.
It’s called chiropractic.
It’s totally natural, it neither adds to nor takes anything away from the body. Chiropractic does not require the use of drugs to make a change in the body. Chiropractic only uses what’s already there and makes it work better. There is no risk of polluting the body with drug interactions and reactions. There is no chance of putting things in the body that might damage the body’s internal environment or interfering with it’s ability to fight off disease and illness even more.
You can always tell when someone has been under medical care for long time. She is taking a pill for one problem, but it’s also causing another problem so she is also taking a pill for that new, secondary problem which... is also causing another, third problem and she still has many, if not all of the original problem. She likely is over-weight, smokes, doesn’t exercise regularly and she needs multiple cups of coffee to get her motor running in the morning, another pill to control her upset stomach and then some other pill to fall asleep at night.
You can always tell when someone is under the care of a chiropractor. She isn’t taking a handful of pills every day and...
She is typically free of symptoms and full of life and energy. She is not overweight. She doesn’t smoke or pop pills for everything that bothers her. She exercises regularly and doesn’t pollute her internal environment with stimulants and sedatives to begin and end her day.
Ironically, chiropractic, which has been around for well over a hundred years was always "Green".
People went to Chiropractors for diseases like diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, gastric reflux, gall bladder problems, flu, asthma, menstrual problems, blood pressure problems, etc. because they didn’t want to pollute their body with drugs that were going to alter their body’s ability to heal and be well.
